Annella mollis

Description: Colonies arborescent, mostly in one plane, branches with anastomoses forming netlike fans. Colour of colonies yellow, orange or red. Surface layer with double heads or double discs, internal layer with tuberculate spindles. Axis is made up of smooth, branched, anastomosing sclerites that are embedded in a gorgonin matrix.
Habitat: On slopes and deeper parts of the reef.
Range: Tropical Indo-Pacific
Remarks: Recently, Grasshoff (1999) placed the species of Subergorgia forming netlike fans in Annella.
