Type species: Millepora alcicornis (Linnaeus, 1758)
Characteristics:Colony arborescent, composed of upstanding plates, or encrusting. Gastropores and dactylopores circular to irregularly polygonal at orifices exceptionally stellate; walls not extended above surface; 5 to 7 dactylopores commonly arranged around each gastropore, forming indistinct cyclosystems. Ampullae in the coenosteum forming little or no bulge at the surface (Eguchi, 1968).
Range:Indo-Malayan area.
