Description: Colonies forming fans. Branches thin. Polyps arranged all around the branches. Colour of colonies yellow, brown. Surface of coenenchyme with thornscales with wide flat basal part and a central projection of various forms. The projection can be short or long, spiny or blunt, compact or leaflike. Interior with spindles and irregular sclerites. Zooxanthellae absent.

Habitat: Reef slope. In the Atlantic in deep water.

Range: Atlantic and Tropical Indo-Pacific
