Description: Colonies encrusting, forming large rounded clumps. Polyps retractile into calcareous, tubular anthosteles. Anthostele walls form rigid tubes of solidly fused sclerites. Polyp tubes joined laterally by an elevated series of transverse platforms. Tentacles can vary from narrow with long pinnules to broad with short pinnules. Sclerites tuberculate spindles, free to partly fused. Colour of colonies red to violet, polyps cream to green. Zooxanthellae present.
Habitat: Shallow water to about 15 m depth.
Range: Widespread in Indo-Pacific.
