Type species: Blastotrochus nutrix Milne Edwards and Haime, 1848

Total number of species estimated: 1 (another species described as a fossil).

Characteristics: Coral azooxanthellate, solitary, and highly compressed. Asexual reproduction most common, buds forming by transverse division as well as from thecal edges. Coralla small, rarely over 4 cm in height. Theca smooth (epithecate); thecal edges bear one pair of downward projecting spines. Inner and upper septal edges smooth. No columella.

Ecology: Unknown.

Range: Known only from the Philippines and Indonesia at depths of 11-62 m.

Additional remarks: This genus is very similar to Truncatoflabellum, but differs in having budding from the lateral edges of the corallum as well as having transverse division. An extremely rarely collected and poorly known species.
