Description: Colonies forming fans or irregularly branched in all directions. Often colonies have thin branches. Colour of colonies yellow, orange, brown, red, purple. Polyps arranged all around the branches, contractile but not retractile. Upper part of polyps with a crown of sclerites with projecting spine. Sclerites of coenenchyme thornstars, spindles, irregular sclerites. Zooxanthellae absent.

Habitat: Reef slope.

Range: Indo-Pacific, Atlantic.
