Description: Colonies forming open fans, one species encrusting. Colour of colonies red, yellowish, orange , etc. Sclerites of coenenchyme are exclusively spindles with irregularly arranged tubercles. Zooxanthellae absent.
Habitat: Reef slope.
Range: Tropical Indo-Pacific
Remarks: Many species of this genus have been placed erroneously in the genus Muricella.
